Courses on Computer-Assisted Biblical Research


This section lists several courses on computer-assisted research, some of which may be taken on the Internet. Courses on general humanities computing and courses on computer-assisted biblical research are included.

  • Computers in Biblical and Theological Studies, taught by Dr. Harry Hahne. (Tyndale Seminary, Toronto, and Wycliffe College, University of Toronto)

    The course surveys computing tools that assist research and writing in biblical and theological studies. Students learn about computer software and techniques for studying the Bible, doing research, organizing information, formatting bibliographies and writing papers and sermons. The course includes an introduction to using biblical and theological resources on CD-ROM, the Internet and the World Wide Web.

    The course is offered every Winter at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. Dr. Hahne has also taught similar courses at other schools as a visiting professor. Contact Dr. Hahne if you would like to make arrangements for him to teach the course at your school.

  • Computing in the Humanities, at Dakota State University, taught by Dr. Eric Johnson

    A credit course on computer applications in the humanities such as analysis of texts, arranging data from research, and formatting for printing and desktop publishing. The focus of the course will be on analysis of texts using computer programs created by Dr. Johnson.

  • The Global Electonic Academy

    A catalog of distance education courses. It includes: (1) online courses offered on the Internet; and (2) traditional correspondence courses which advertise on the Internet, allow contact with the professor or use the Internet for classroom support. It also includes a discussion area for teachers of online distance education courses.
