» Character Map Program

Many users of bibliographical database software have complained about difficulties inserting "foreign" characters (e.g., à, ç, è, ê, etc.). This freeware Windows 95/NT application, CharMap, operates in a similar way to the Window CharMap application but requires only a single click to send a given character to the active application.

To use the program, download CHARMAP.ZIP (right-click on the link and select "Save Link As . . ." (Netscape) or "Save Target As . . ." (Internet Explorer) and save the file to a temporary directory). Unzip the file, and then run SETUP.EXE. The icon should appear on your start menu.

NOTE: The CHARMAP.ZIP file is inordinately large; if you like you might try to install the components separately. If MSVBVM50.DLL is not in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, put it there. Then put CHARMAP.EXE and COMDLG32.OCX into the same directory, add a short-cut and try it out.
